Schedule Marketing using Cannabis Menu Software
BudSense makes selling weed easy.
In this Feature Spotlight we will highlight how to scheduled you marketing using BudSenses dispensary menu software. Scheduled marketing creates the opportunity to run scheduled recurring marketing campaigns, or plan ahead for large events such as 4/20 or New Years Eve.
Scheduled Marketing
BudSense’s Scheduled Marketing feature is built to market your store(s) easier and more efficiently while assisting in advertising promotions with the end goal of maximizing revenue.
BudSense provides users the ability to upload their own content to display along side digital menus. These marketing assets can also be scheduled so they appear only over specific time periods. This feature can be used to create recurring weekly or daily campaigns or to plan ahead for events or sales such as 4/20.
Once you’re familiar with building cannabis menus and marketing menus scheduling the content is an easy addition.
Marketing menus are built in the ‘Menu Tab’ and then applied and scheduled in the ‘Display Tab’. The ‘Display Tab’ is where you assign menus to physical TVs. Multiple menus can be added to a single display including scheduled content. If multiple menus are added to a single display they will scroll through at the configured time allocations.
Click on the display you wish to schedule and click the ‘Specific Day/Time’ toggle to enable the feature. The example below is set to display from 7pm to 11pm Thursday to Saturday for 30 second intervals.
Recurring Marketing Campaigns
There are several different types of recurring marketing campaigns our customers have used successfully. These campaigns typically highlight one day a week, or a specific time period during a specific day, or multiple days. Here are three examples of ways you can improve store performance by using Scheduled Marketing to execute recurring marketing campaigns.
Increase basket sizes
As you may have experienced, edibles and drinks typically contribute to add-on purchase. Promotions geared towards increasing basket sizes can create opportunities for customers to try a particular drink, gummy, chocolate, or product from another emerging categories for the first time. The end result may be repeatable consistent purchases in the future. On a large scale this will result in increased basket sizes and revenue.
Win market share during peaks
We all know cannabis revenue peaks leading into and during the weekends. When sales are a high it’s a good reminder that most or all stores are experiencing these peaks. By scheduling marketing campaigns during peaks you can start to pull revenue away from your competition and into your store(s).
Customers will start to learn behaviors that your store is the place to stock up for events, parties, and weekends.
We have seen several ideas to execute this strategy, most are centered around a happy hour of some sort. A promotion with limitations that only applies to a smaller category or even a particular producer can be extremely beneficial while not decreasing your margins too much. Like this example below that uses an attention grabbing 15% Off the well branded Poolboy Cannabis Pre-Rolls from 314 Pure Cannabis.

Increase revenue on off-days
Increase revenue on your off-days by promoting a feature category on one of your slow days, likely Sunday to Tuesday.
We’ve seen different approaches to this idea. One is to leverage your brand and Instagram marketing with something like a ‘Merch Monday’ promotion. For a simpler approach you can also highlight specific products or categories like bulk flower, 1g vapes, concentrates, or bongs. Large purchase items work well for this type of promotion. A substantial promotion is helpful to get someone to make an extra trip.
Work Smarter - Plan Ahead
No one likes working on weekends or holidays when they don’t have to. Utilizing BudSense’s scheduled content feature creates the opportunity to set up your marketing material in advance of large events and holidays. As of now BudSense allows you to schedule one week in advance. In the future we are adding a feature that will let you schedule by date in order to plan further ahead.
