Dylan Bailey

Last week we had the opportunity to sit down and talk to Dylan Bailey, the Master Grower and Responsible Person from VIGR Life Cannabis Inc.

Dylan’s passion for cannabis started back when he was in high school. Not long after Dylan started smoking, he started growing his first plant. At the time, he did not know that one day he would be the Master Grower of Regina’s first micro-cannabis grow-op.

In the Cannabis Industry

Dylan opened up and shared with us his reason why he loves working in the cannabis industry. His reason was both relatable and reminded us why we also love and appreciate being a part of the cannabis community. 💚

Dylan claims he came into the industry very shy. This was due to his age, being 23 at the time and his perception of what “experience should be”. As he met more growers and learned more about the industry, he learned that people are always willing to help one another. He found the industry to be a very collaborative and cooperative space.

“Yes, there is some friendly competition, but that’s where it ends. At the end of the day, everybody wants to see everyone do what they love to do.”

The Future of the Cannabis Industry

We asked Dylan,What are you most looking forward to in the cannabis industry?”

Dylan says he is most excited about two things: the progression in cannabis education and ending the stigma around cannabis.

The Education of Cannabis

With cannabis being a fairly complex plant, the industry - for the most part, still uses THC as its single source of truth to quantify the quality of the cannabis product. This, Dylan believes is about to change.

Dylan thinks consumers ought to know the full healing ability of the cannabis plant. They need to become educated on different cultivars, terpenes, cannabinoids, and how the plant’s profile impacts the consumption experience. He wants consumers to know that THC isn’t the end all be all. When consumers become educated on the plant’s terpenes and different cannabinoids such as CBD, CBN, CBC, CBG, and cannabinoids we don’t even know yet, they can then be able to select products that can best help their needs.

The Cannabis Stigma

Dylan is also happy to see the direction the cannabis stigma is heading. For most, the days when cannabis was considered a life-ruining gateway drug are over. Dylan credits this change in perception to the legalization of the plant.

“I have a three-year-old and he’s not going to know that cannabis was ever illegal. The perception of cannabis is generational and in 20 years it will reset.”

As the stigma around cannabis becomes less prevalent, the comfort level around weed products and cannabis culture will continue to gain traction among users and non-users alike. This is something we think we can all look forward to.
