How Rachael and Megan Rapinoe are Changing the Cannabis Industry
The cannabis industry is evolving at a rapid pace, and two icons of the sports world are leading the charge. Megan & Rachael Rapinoe Launch Mendi in the US Market
In 2019, Rachael Rapinoe and Megan Rapinoe - the former U.S. National Women’s Soccer star, launched Mendi in the U.S. market. The ideation of Mendi started in 2018 when the Farm Bill passed in the US, which legalized the production of hemp. At this time Rachael and Megan both used CBD to mend their injuries and support sports recovery. Both girls are highly involved in athletics and have a scholastic science and health background which they used to develop their products.
The Mendi lineup consists of edibles, gel caps, oil tinctures, and topicals - basically everything you would need to look after your body after a hard day on the pitch. The products are sold for between $25 - $100 USD and contain 300mg - 2000mg of CBD per product.
What you didn’t know about Megan and Rachael Rapineo
The Rapineo sisters are using their platform to speak out about the need for diversity and inclusion in the cannabis industry. In particular, they have been vocal about the need for more people of color to be involved in the industry, both in terms of ownership and representation. They have also been outspoken about the need for the cannabis industry to do more to give back to communities of color that have been disproportionately harmed by the war on drugs.
