Ricky Williams launches Highsman in California and Oregon Markets

On October 18, 2021, Ricky Williams, former NFL running back launched his own lifestyle cannabis brand, Highsman. Highsman was given its name after the Heisman award Ricky Williams Heisman received in 1998 after years of advocating for the legalization of cannabis.

The purpose-driven cannabis brand targets athletes and is available in dispensaries in California and Oregon. Highsman’s lineup of cannabis products are available in energizing “Pregame” (Sativa), focused “Halftime” (Hybrid), and relaxing “Postgame” (Indica) varieties in loose flower and pre-roll options. Why Ricky Williams started his own cannabis brand

Throughout his professional football career, Williams faced two suspensions for cannabis usage. The suspension had financial and playing opportunity repercussions. Ricky claims cannabis helped him deal with the stress and injuries that come with the job and never hindered his success.

Williams was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in 1999 and later played for the Miami Dolphins. He made headlines when he announced his retirement from the NFL in 2004 after failing several drug tests because of cannabis use. While on suspension he played in the Canadian Football League for Toronto Argonauts before returning to the Dolphins. He retired permanently from the Baltimore Ravens in 2012.

Though times were tough for Ricky overcoming adversity, Ricky was able to take his suspension as an opportunity to create something awesome!! Ricky says, “When I left the NFL and the struggles really hit, I just kept overcoming them and seeing where they led me next and they led me here, starting my own (cannabis) brand in Southern California.”
